Academic Journey at San Jose State University
At San Jose State University, I have built a strong foundation in computer science, specializing in areas like software engineering, machine learning, and data analysis. My academic journey has allowed me to gain proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Java, while working with frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras and others. Through rigorous coursework and hands-on projects, I have refined my technical expertise and developed critical problem-solving skills, equipping me to tackle complex challenges and contribute meaningfully to the field of technology.
Research Project Intern under Prof. Dr. R. Chun
During my time as a Research Project Intern under Prof. Dr. R. Chun at San Jose State University, I contributed to a research project focused on utilizing machine learning for sentiment analysis of depression through social media posts. The project aimed to provide early insights into a person’s mental health by analyzing linguistic indicators in their social media activity. I developed a deep learning model to classify sentiment, leveraging tools like TensorFlow, NLTK, and spaCy for data preprocessing, feature extraction, and implementation of the model.
To support the research, I utilized the Twitter API to collect and analyze relevant datasets, while visualization tools like Matplotlib helped interpret results effectively. Throughout the project, I worked extensively with tools and libraries such as Python, Scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy, alongside environments like Jupyter Notebooks and Anaconda. Although time constraints prevented the publication of a full research paper, I successfully drafted an abstract summarizing the findings and methodologies.
This experience provided hands-on exposure to natural language processing (NLP), deep learning techniques, and the intersection of mental health and AI. It not only strengthened my technical skills but also deepened my understanding of conceptualizing and executing impactful research projects, showcasing the potential of technology in addressing real-world challenges.
IT Student Assistant
As an IT Student Assistant at the SJSU IT, I played a key role in providing technical support and ensuring seamless operations for faculty, staff, and students. This role allowed me to gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving IT infrastructure within a dynamic academic environment.
My responsibilities included resolving technical issues related to classroom technology, managing and maintaining AV equipment, and assisting with software and hardware installations. I supported faculty by ensuring that instructional tools such as projectors, audio systems, and computers functioned effectively, facilitating an uninterrupted teaching experience.
Additionally, I collaborated with the IMS team to improve workflows by implementing automation tools and optimizing operational efficiency. This role enhanced my problem-solving skills, strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users, and taught me the importance of delivering reliable IT solutions in a time-sensitive environment.
This experience not only refined my technical abilities but also highlighted the value of teamwork and adaptability in managing diverse IT challenges.
Student Enforcement Officer
San Jose State University PD
As a Student Enforcement Officer, I contributed to maintaining order and ensuring the smooth functioning of campus operations. My primary responsibilities included conducting regular patrols to monitor campus parking areas, issuing citations for violations, and ensuring compliance with university parking policies. I also assisted students, faculty, and visitors with parking-related inquiries, delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism in often fast-paced or challenging situations.
Additionally, my role provided me with the opportunity to support campus safety initiatives. Working closely with law enforcement professionals, I assisted in maintaining a secure environment for students and staff. This experience honed my ability to handle high-pressure situations with composure and contributed to my understanding of effective communication and teamwork in a structured and dynamic environment.
Together, these experiences strengthened my sense of responsibility, accountability, and commitment to fostering a safe and organized campus environment. They also enhanced my ability to collaborate with diverse teams and manage operational challenges effectively.
